ISAF World Sailing Rankings - Mistral Women
    Posted On:  02/02/2005 19:45:00

There were no events to count for the Mistral Women in this ranking. Faustine Merret (FRA) Olympic gold medallist, remains the top of the rankings ahead of bronze medallist Alessandra Sensini (ITA) who is second. Lee Lai Shan (HKG), the silver medallist who has excelled in this class for many years, moves back amongst the world's top five from number seven, to sit at number four. In third place, the highest this sailor has ever achieved is Olga Maslivets from the Ukraine, with the top five is rounded out by Great Britain's Natasha Sturges.

Two sailors have entered the top 20 for the first time following a slow but steady progression up the rankings. Zofia Klepacka (POL) has certainly proved herself at the ISAF Youth Worlds in recent years, having emphatically won the gold for four consecutive years and also competed at the Olympic Sailing Competition in Athens where she finished twelfth, and joins the top twenty at number 16. Bulgarian sailor Irina Konstantinova moves up one place to enter the top 20 at number 20, her highest ever position.

There are now 104 sailors on the women's Mistral rankings and it's going to be interesting to see which sailors will make the switch to the new equipment, the Neil Pryde RS:X.
