A BATTLE FOR THE EUROPEAN CUP TITLE BETWEEN CASAGRANDE AND ALBERTI

ISRAEL IN SECOND PLACE BEHIND HONG KONG IN THE NATION CUP

The European Championships seem to be undertaking the characteristics of quite a muscular event, held in Mondello, for the 45 athletes taking place in the third day of races with their mistral one designs. The light wind in these past days, has in fact given an advantage to those athletes with better athletic conditions than others, especially at the start of the race, the athletes from Hong Kong seem to be the best prepared from this point of view.

Bruce Kendall from New Zealand is the Hong Kong team's trainer, clearly full of advice for his athletes, put them all in a row at the winning post in the two races held today, with a wind blowing at 5-6 knots. Behind them the battle begins for the European Title with Casagrande, seventh place in the overall results, he's still in the lead after the third day of the races, taking a thirteenth place and a sixth place today. Today the first retirements went into action, which was useful for Alessandro Alberti, second place on the continental podium. After the first unlucky race on Monday, the athlete from Palermo in the last three races has came in sixth two times after the firing squad from Hong Kong and eleventh in the last race, giving him second place amongst the European group, he was closely watched by the Israeli Shlomi Ayubi, who had a good day with two seventh places that make him the best among the European Youth category. In the overall ranking there has been a change between King Yin Chang and Kwok Fai Cheng, with Ho Chi Ho who goes down to third place.

In the women's category the positions have unchanged with the Chinese girl Chan Wai Kei in front of the Greek Davrou and the Israeli Davidovich. There is only point of difference between Maria Papadaki and Valentina Failla from Palermo, both after the third position in the Europeans. In the master's category Paco Wirz leads and is in sixteenth place in the overall results, he manages to keep his place and distance from Giuseppe Castelli.

The third day of the Nation Cup is lead by Hong Kong, there is only a change in the second position which is taken now by Israel after a positive day by Ayubi overtake Greece.

In plotting the third place of the Greeks is Italy pushed by Casagrande and Alberti, bringing it down to six points difference between the two.
