    Kieler Woche - Day 2
    Posted On:  26/06/2003 18:54:24

The second day of racing began with sunny warm weather and a light breeze which was really unstable and patchy on the bay. Therefore the AP flag was hoisted at 9:30 AM for all courses and sailors were asked to wait onshore for further information until 11:00 AM. During that time sailors checked their material, attended team meetings, relaxed in the shade and caught up with sailing friends.

At 11:00 AM the breeze still was very unconsistant so the race committee did not hesitate to extend the AP flag for another hour. Finally at noon the wind shifted right and light breeze set in from north easterly direction making racing possible for Laser, Yngling, 49er and Europe sailors. They were sent off to course areas Echo, Charlie and Hotel immediately.

Mistral´s men and women AP flag was up until 3:00PM. Due to the lack of wind racing was cancelled for the course area Golf so surfers packed up their gear and enjoyed the beautiful weather for onshore action in the Oympic habour facilities as the swimming center or went to see the down town festivities of Kiel.

We are looking forward to more offshore action tomorrow at 9:30AM so stay tuned.
