Notice of Race

I "Bay of Cadiz - New Year" Training Race

Mistral Junior - Mistral Youth - Mistral Senior

Puerto Santa Maria, Cadiz, Spain

January 2nd to 4th    

1. EVENT

1.1      The I Training Race "Bay of Cadiz" for the Mistral Junior, Youth & Senior  will be held from 3rd-5th January of 2005

2. ORGANISER

2.1 The Race will be organized by The Andalusian Sailing Federation and The Spanish Secretary of the International Mistral Class

3. VENUE 

3.1 The venue of the race is "Puerto Sherry" in El Puerto de Santa Maria which is located about 2 hours by car from Seville and 30 minutes from Jerez Airport by car.

4. RULES 

4.1 This race will be governed by the rules as is specified in the definitions of the Racing Rules Sailing 2005-2008  including App. B Sailboard Racing Rules and:

4.2 Where there is a conflict between the NoR and the Sailing Instructions, the S.I. will take precedence.

4.3 English is the official language of the Race.

5. ELIGIBILITY & DISCIPLINE 

5.1 All the competitors must contact Deborah Powell (deborahp@telefonica.net) before 20th December to confirm their participation.

5.2 Competitors shall posses valid third party liability insurance to the value of € 335,000.

5.3 Senior, juniors and Youths  may race separately.

6.  CLASSES

6.1 MISTRAL "JUNIOR ONE DESIGN"

6.1.1 The Race shall be a single discipline 'Open Entry' event sailed on MOD boards for boys and girls of divisions.. They may race separately each in a 9 race series over 3 days.

6.2 MISTRAL "SENIOR"

6.2.1 The Race shall be a single discipline 'Open Entry' event sailed on MOD Boards for men and women of division They shall race separately from the Juniors, each in a 9 race series over 3 days.

7.CLASSES & DIVISIONS   

7.1 Age:

7.1.5 A Junior  shall be under the age of 17.

7.1.6 A Youth  shall be under the age of 20

7.1.7 A Senior will be to the discretion of the sailor.

7.2 General 

7.2.1 Only divisions specified will apply. A minimum of 10 entries is required to constitute a  division within a fleet.  Competitors of the Youth division shall race  with the Senior.

9. REGISTRATION ON SITE

9.1 The registration office during the regatta  will be at the Andalusian Sailing Federation Race. Before the regatta  for information and enquiries  please contact Deborah Powell.

9.2 Each Competitor shall produce the following before  12:00 of  3rd of January in the Race Office

- Original Regatta Entry Form                          

- 15 € of Entry Fees.           

- Evidence of valid third party insurance

10. EQUIPMENT 

10.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment. 

10.2 A Mistral Junior competitor only may race  with an MOD 6.6 or 5.9 sail.

11. SCORING 

11.1 The RRS Appendix A - A4.1 "Low Points Scoring System" will apply.

12. SAIL INSIGNIAS 

12.1 All Sails should comply with the national letter system according to the RRS 77 and App.G 

13. BUOYANCY 

13.1 If personal buoyancy is prescribed each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg. uninflated, in fresh water.

14. MEDALS AND PRIZES 

14.1 The prizes list will be posted on the Official Notice Board  before  the start of the 1st race.

15. LIABILITY. 

15.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The Organising Authority, or any of their officials or representatives or sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.  Notice is drawn to RRS 4.
